Start with a short course

Our online short courses provide an alternative entry route to this online Masters degree.

  • Earn 30 credits’ worth of short courses that are part of this online Masters.
  • Then you can apply to transfer to the full Masters in the summer.

By completing 30 credits successfully, you’ll have proved you’re capable of learning at this level. So even if you do not hold the formal degree entry qualifications, you’ll be eligible to apply to the full Masters.

Study this Masters without a degree

You do not need to provide formal qualifications to start the entry-route short courses for this Masters. These online courses are self-evaluating. This means you decide whether you think you’re capable of studying them.

To help you decide if a course is right for you, we provide course-specific entry guidance on each course page to explain the level of teaching involved. If you’re unsure, contact us.

Get started in January 2021

To get started on the entry path, purchase and complete:

  • Marine and Wind Energy (a core course on the online MSc Offshore Engineering degree)
  • and either Pipelines and Soil Mechanics or Renewable Energy Integration to Grid (both optional courses on this degree).

All these courses begin 25 January.

To study part-time, we recommend you take no more than 30 credits per term.

You can go at a slower pace and begin with one 15-credit course. But you cannot transfer to the full degree until you have at least 30 credits from courses that are part of this Masters.

To join a course, apply via the course page and follow the application and checkout process. Courses are available to purchase until one week after their start date.

Masters route not for you?

You do not have to transfer onto the Masters degree. Our online short courses give you the maximum flexibility in your studies. You can:

  • study each short course standalone, earning credits as you go
  • build up to a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma instead
  • continue on course by course and transfer to the Masters when you’re ready.
